A sports tyre for high performance vehicles

You may already be familiar with the WinterContact TS 860 which we tested last year on a Nissan Leaf. Now the sports version of this tyre, the WinterContact TS 860 S, has been revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

This all new tyre is set to replace the WinterContact TS 850 P, which has a total of 50 homologations and was popular among car manufacturers for offering the best possible winter performance for sports cars.  As you might expect, Continental is already working with manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche to release customised versions of the new WinterContact TS 860 S.

Improved handling and braking

A sports cars just wouldn’t be a sports car without a set of high performance tyres. Continental knows this, and has developed the WinterContact TS 860 S to offer driving precision both in the dry and in snow using wide solid blocks on the tread shoulder.

The central grooves of the tread and the traction sipes on the tread blocks are designed to guarantee high performance and a sporty feel even in snow. The wide central groove works to minimize braking distances in winter conditions.

The new tyre comes with the 3PMSF marking on its sidewall, certifying its winter performance. Design-wise Continenental has adopted the checkered look of the ContiSportContact 6.

The Continental WinterContact TS 860 S should be available in Autumn 2017 in 14 sizes from 18 to 21 inches. 6 of these models will come with SSR runflat and ContiSilent technologies.
