An aggressive tyre for all terrains

Released in the US last July, the Geolandar M/T G003 is now making its European debut at the International Motor Show in Geneva. Designed for medium and large-sized SUVs and pick-up trucks, this mud terrain tyre aims to deliver top performance for off-road enthusiasts, be it on dirt, mud, gravel or rocks.

When developing the Geolandar M/T G003, the manufacturer consulted participants at off-road races worldwide. According to Yokohama, the new tyre’s versatility comes from the addition of a number of features that were not present on previous models, notably an entirely updated tread pattern.

This tread pattern has deep, wide grooves which suppress noise on muddy and rocky surfaces, while “digging in” to increase traction.  Small sipes in the tread blocks are designed to improve grip on hard ground and wet road surfaces.

The tread also features a mud and stone ejector to prevent damage to the rubber. According to Yokohama, this feature helps to lengthen the tyre’s life, while also contributing to improved grip.

The tyre’s sidewalls have been reinforced to improve side-cut resistance and provide an additional contact surface in deep mud. According to Yokohama, these sidewalls have both practical and aesthetic benefits for users, providing improved traction and an aggressive look, popular with off-road enthusiasts.

When driven on-road, the manufacturer claims that the Geolandar M/T G003 provides a quite and comfortable drive, similar to previous models.

The Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 will go on sale this spring in 23 sizes for 15- to 20-inch wheel diameters.
